Elderly Senior Citizen Facing Criminal Charges by Authorities after he Shoots and Kills a Woman Involved in Pick-Up Random from a Phone Scam Ring, but Law Enforcement Write in Report She was just an Uber Driver
Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, 8:52 PM reporting for Monday April 15th, 2024, 2:00 PM-South Charleston Ohio- Police are charging a South Carlston Ohio elderly man who pulled a firearm on an Uber Driver accidently mistaking the Uber driving thinking she was involved in phone scam extorting him ransom, but the police just addressed responded evidence summarized in their investigation she is just an Uber driver sent by a scam artist.
The incident crime took place when caught on surveillance footage on surveillance video from the gentleman's home in South Charleston on the date of March 25th. The man who is a 81 was identified as William Brock explained to crime stoppers that he shot a 61-year-old Loletha Hall because he his family had been extorted by scammers over the phone.
"Mr. Brock received some scam call by a person purporting to be someone from our courts who informed him a family member was incarcerated and that he had a bond of a significant amount of money," said Lt. Kristopher Shultz of the Clark County Sheriff's Office.
Mr. Shultz testified details articulated to law enforcement that callers then ceased operations masquerading to be officers of the court and instead claimed that they had abducted a hostage for random. The scammers on the other side the phone then sent Hall to the man's home to collect the lieu of random.
"Ms. Hall did not have any idea," Schultz said.
Police crime stoppers responded that Brock forced Hall to tell him particularly who she was employed with and then snagged her cellphone to restrain her resisted from dismissing.
“When she tried to get away, he shot her once, then there was more exchange between them," Shultz explained. "Mr. Brock was at some point injured to his head, and he shot Ms. Hall a second time. There was more conversation, and then he shot her a third time. Only after he shot her a third time did he then make contact with authorities to report the incident."
Court docket records demonstrated that the victim was missing an unreached weapon for protection in her possession and did not herself extort Brock. A spokesperson for Uber confessed the business has corresponded care with the victim's family and was compliant with the case.
"This is a horrific tragedy, and our hearts continue to be with Loletha’s loved ones as they grieve," the spokesperson said.
The Uber business company returned a comment statement in respect to cooperate for the investigation that the person who demanded the Uber driver evicted from the giant, but police authorities did not indicate whether contrasting consumers had been detained or identified in the investigation.
Brock has been processed booking into jail for murder charges and posted bail of $200,000. Should Brock be prosecuted, he could face imprisonment through 15 years to life or penalty fines $15,000.
