Gov. Henry McMaster Beginning on January 3rd, 2025, Declared a State of Emergency on 1-85 Bomb Threat

Saturday February 8th, 2025, 4:30 PM reporting from February 8th, 2025, 5:27 PM a false alarm domestic terror incident occurred which indicate an indicative signal America must continue to remain vigilant against the war on terrorism. At Mile-Marker 44 at White Horse Road in Greenville County South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster declared a national state of emergency with the assistance of South Carolina state troopers and local police.

An unnamed suspect had been taken into custody after a road was closed near Mile Marker 44 White Horse Road in Greenville Country out of abundance warned in consequence prevention as result of a bomb scare on January 2nd, 205 South Carolina State Troopers and local police are re-guiding road congestion. The unnamed person police are calling a suspect had been identified.

"The roadblock closure in I-85 had been reopened and traffic had recontinued. according to Master Trooper M.R. Ridgeway with the SC Department of Public Safety. "Additional updates will be coming from SCDPS regarding today’s incident and subsequent arrest of the driver."

The event of the incident had been white flagged clear a false alarm and no explosives had been obtained. On Thursday, according to the report information on file 2:45 PM a South Carolina Transporation Police Trooper issued technical traffic procedure at red light traffic stop on a tractor-trailer on interstate highway 85 in Greenville County as a result to the license plate on the trailer, according to Kyle McGehee with the South Carolina Department of National Security Administration for Public Safety.

Between the stop of the tractor trailer driver and the search for explosives at highway mile marker 44, the driver, an unidentified man from Illinois, particularly described indicated admission there was actually an explosive hidden within the vehicle according to the report.

Highway Mile Mark 44's 6 lanes had been closed for safety protocol prevention procedures and preventions of public safety on I-85. Then when assessed cleared security officials reopened the lanes at the recorded times of 7:40 PM, indirectly corresponding the reference information.

The driver afterward the incident had been investigated final summary of conclusion had been arrested. Further extra disclosure has been released Friday, including the driver's name and awaiting name to be named so charges are pressed.

I-85 bomb threat halts traffic
The GCSO's SWAT and bomb team investigated the scene, which started Thursday afternoon and ended after 7 p.m., according to Lt. Ryan Flood with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.


Earlier, law enforcement agents said South Carolina FBI agents were investigating the scene on I-85.
In touch with SCDOT, White Horse Road law enforcement agents stated South Carolina FBI field office officers are closely investigating the scene carefully at I-85.

According to McMaster's office, SCDOT and SLED agents were also on the scene.

"SC DOT and state law enforcement are on the scene, and normal I-85 traffic will resume once the tractor-trailer is swept and cleared by SLED's bomb squad," according to McMaster.

I-85 closed in Greenville, South Carolina
I-85 NB and SB in Greenville County was closed near Mile Marker 44 due to an active incident Thursday afternoon, according to Ridgeway.

Both sides of the interstate were closed. Road detours were posted, but the public was urged to avoid I-85 in this area until further notice.


According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, traffic was blocked in all northbound and southbound lanes.

Authorities directed northbound traffic to exit Interstate 85 at the 40-mile marker onto Highway 153 for a several-mile detour.

Southbound travelers exited at Mile Marker 46 onto Highway 291.

According to a release from SCDOT, the tolls on Interstate 185 were lifted to help keep traffic moving around the closure.

"Drivers - avoid the area if you can, significant delays continue near this area of the interstate while law enforcement works to safely respond to the active incident."

Suggested routes for drivers
The SC Highway Patrol offered these alternative routes for drivers:

Interstate 85 Northbound Traffic will exit Interstate 85 @ 40 mm. Turn left turn onto SC 153. Travel SC 153 (Brown Road) to SC 20 (Piedmont Hwy). At SC 20 (Piedmont Hwy) turn left and travel SC 20 to Bracken Road. Turn Left on Bracken Rd and travel Bracken Road to US 25 ( August Rd). Turn left at US 25 (August Road) and travel north to SC 291. Travel SC 291 back to Interstate 85 North. The traffic will enter Interstate 85 @ 46MM

Detour from Interstate 85 South:

Interstate 85 Southbound traffic will exit Interstate 85 @ 46 MM ( SC 291). Traffic will turn left on SC 291 traveling south. Traffic will travel south to US 25 ( August Road). Traffic will travel south on US 25 (August Road) to Bracken Road. Traffic will turn right onto Bracken Road and travel Bracken Road to SC 20 ( Piedmont Hwy). Traffic will turn right onto SC 20 and travel to Brown Road (SC 153). Traffic will turn left on Brown Road ( SC 153) and travel SC 153 back to Interstate 85 at the 40 MM.

New Orleans, Las Vegas incidents make authorities extra cautious
Authorities are taking extra precautions after two incidents over the New Year's holiday.

On New Year's Eve, a Texas man, 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, rammed his truck into a crowd of people in New Orleans, killing 15 and injuring 30.

Hours later, on New Year's Day, a Tesla truck exploded outside of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, leaving one dead and seven injured. Matthew Livelsberger, the sole person in the truck, was identified as the dead person.
