Reporting for Friday August 8th, 2025, 6:13 PM since Thursday August 7th, 2025, 9:35 AM- Ft. Stewart Georgia- An active shooter who left threatening Facebook posts that were disturbing, called red flag attention to law enforcement officials attacked an army base on Ft. Stewart Georgia killed 5 U.S. soldiers left critically wounded.
FBI Atlanta was aware of the situation posted on X from the field office in Savannah are part of major ongoing investigation for the army criminal investigation division. Quorn Elius Radford was tackled then restrained from Ft. Stewart soldiers then arrested according to authorities.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt held a press conference to report the current situation in Georgia for further information the developing investigation by law enforcement officials, Savannah police and FBI field office partner. President Trump was notified of the situation and offered his condolences to the injured victims slain by the shooter.
When the active shooting occurred around the surrounding perimeter base the base immediate was put on lockdown for public safety with schools in the vicinity to keep children under 18 attending that school safe returned in parent and legal guardian to pick up their young from school during the emergency situation.
The time of the shooting was 11 AM outside a local combat team area shortly before 11 AM local time.. n a post on its Facebook page, Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield said the shooting occurred in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area shortly before 11 a.m. local time.
The alleged shooter was identified as Quornelius Radford, a 28-year-old automated logistics sergeant from Jacksonville, Fla., assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team. Radford joined the Army in January 2018 and has no deployments, according to the Associated Press.
At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Brig. Gen. John Lubas, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, said Radford was quickly "subdued" by fellow soldiers before law enforcement arrived.
Witnesses claim Radford had a repugnant dispute with his co-workers and the fallen out at his placed involved his co-employed led to the alleged active shooting.
Atlanta FBI field office criminal investigation unit said on X that its office in Savannah was aware of the incident and "coordinating with Army Criminal Investigation Division for any assistance that might be needed."
President Trump was briefed on the shooting, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp wrote on X that he was "in close contact with law enforcement on the ground," adding that his family was "saddened by today’s tragedy."
"We are keeping the victims, their families, and all those who answer the call to serve in our hearts and prayers, and we ask that Georgians everywhere do the same," Kemp commented in a press briefing.
Quornelius Radford has been book on charges of attempted murder and felony assault with a deadly weaponed. No bail is set and is awaiting arraignment of trial before a judge.
