Michigan Mormon Church Burned to Ground in Devastating Terror Incident Involving Military Gunman

Wednesday October 1st, 2025, 6:10 PM reporting since Monday September 29th, 2025-Grand Blanc Michigan- A total of 14 people is deceased and 12 other people severely injured after a gunman drove a truck into building of church. The church was the Mormon Jesus Christ Church of Latter-Day Saints. The first causality count were 9 people severely injured when the gunman drove the truck into the church and opened fire, law enforcement officials commented in their statements responding to the emergency.

First Responders estimated the ambush on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, in town 60 miles (100 km) northwest of Detroit, occurred where during Sunday event of services activates that brought hundreds of people to attend.

Police got a name on the suspect from the DMV; suspect identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford from close by Burton, Michigan, apparently was aside inclusively inside as part of the building when the building caught on fire which has been extinguished. Police responded having to confront unsearched additional items nearby uncovered, the other victims were trapped in the building.

President Donald Trump said he had been briefed on the shooting, and confirmed the FBI will be leading the federal investigation.

Writing on Truth Social, he described it as "yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America".

US Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a post on X that she had received briefings on "what appears to be a horrific shooting and fire" at the church.

"Such violence at a place of worship is heartbreaking and chilling," Bondi said. "Please join me in praying for the victims of this terrible tragedy."

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer condemned the incident, saying: "Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable," adding that she was monitoring the situation.
